Made with care.
Given with love
Hello!
I’m Tracey, founder of Sisters That Stitch. What started as a simple return to knitting turned into something much more meaningful — creating small handmade items that bring comfort during difficult moments.
“During the pandemic, children were often separated from their parents during hospital stays — an already frightening experience made even harder without that comfort close by.”
We originally began by knitting trauma teddies — small handmade bears given to children in hospital. They weren’t just toys, they were something to hold onto during uncertain and overwhelming moments.
As time went on, we wanted to create something that could connect families, even when they couldn’t be physically together. That’s where the idea for our charity hearts began.
Each family receives two hearts — one stays with the child, and one with their parent. A simple idea, but one that carries a powerful message: even when you’re apart, you’re still connected.
More Than Just Knitting
We were proud to work alongside Kaleidoscope mental health charity, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping to break down the stigma around mental health.
Debbie and Tracey were invited onto the KPG Wellbeing Hour to talk about the impact of separation, and how small, thoughtful gestures can make a real difference.
It’s something we truly believe — that mental and physical wellbeing should always go hand in hand.
A Simple Project to Start With
One of the things we love most about the charity hearts is how simple they are to make. You don’t need to be an expert knitter — just a willingness to give it a go.
It’s a small project, but one that can mean a great deal to someone else.
Learn How to Make Your Own
We’ve created a step-by-step tutorial to guide you through making your own charity heart, along with a free pattern you can follow at your own pace.
Whether you’re completely new to knitting or picking it back up again, this is a perfect place to begin.
