There’s something special about knitting. It’s a calming, therapeutic activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, there’s always something new to learn. In this blog, we’ll explore the joys of knitting.
We’ll share tips and tricks, patterns and projects, and anything else that might inspire you to pick up your needles and start creating.
Knitting can even be done whilst watching TV, by just adjusting a few simple things.
1. Use a small needle size. This will help you avoid dropped stitches. A size 4 is a nice size for hands and bamboo needles avoid stitches slipping too much

2. Use a smooth, round yarn. This will also help you avoid dropped stitches. A double knit wool is good as there are around 8 fibres and this provides good strength and weight to the yarn
3. Pay attention to your tension. Knitting too tightly will make your stitches tighter and harder to work with, while knitting too loosely will make your stitches larger and harder to control. You should aim to have your stitches easy to slide up and down the needle, but equally gripping it so that they do not move without pulling them. This will prevent them from sliding off.

4. Use a stitch marker. This will help you keep track of your place in the pattern. They can be purchased from many outlets and they can resemble a circle or a small plastic safety pin

5. Relax and enjoy the process. Knitting should be fun, so don’t get too stressed out about it. This is a hobby that should make you feel good and relaxed. If you are not, then maybe look at how tight you are holding your needles or the yarn. Make your hands into balls and then open them out, this will help you to feel how tight they have been.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your yarn and let’s get started!
